ANZIBA and AIB – Oceania Chapter
Collaborative Event: Nov 2026

Following last year’s inaugural event in Fiji, the Australia and New Zealand International Business Academy (ANZIBA) and the Academy of International Business – Oceania Chapter (AIB-O) will once again jointly hold a collaborative event this year, rather than two independent events. The 2026 event will be held on 24-27 of November in Melbourne and hosted by the University of Melbourne and RMIT University.

Keynote Speaker:

Professor Shige Makino

Kyoto University, Japan

Shige Makino is Professor at the Faculty of Economics/Graduate School of Economics, Kyoto University, Japan, and Emeritus Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received LLB and MBA degrees from Keio University and a PhD from Ivey Business School, Western University.

Professor Makino is the Incoming President Elect (2026-2027) and Fellow of the Academy of International Business.

Shige’s research focuses on strategies and performance of multinational corporations. He is especially interested in exploring non-economic motivations for economic activities and their performance consequences in international business. His research has appeared in such journals as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal, among others.
