Lawrence Welch Prize – Challenging the Status Quo
In May of 2021, the ANZIBA executive decided to create a new award in honour of one of the doyens of Australian IB research – Professor Lawrence Welch – who sadly passed away in September 2020. The award will be known as the Lawrence Welch Prize – Challenging the Status Quo. It will be presented annually at the ANZIBA Conference and attracts a cash prize of AUD $1,000, plus free registration at the next year’s conference.
The prize will be awarded to the paper that is the best example of innovative scholarship and challenges the prevailing orthodoxy in IB. Reflecting Lawrence’s approach, the paper may be either purely theoretical, or empirical research based on primary data. It will be selected from amongst the papers accepted to the conference competitive stream.
