Lawrence Welch Prize – Challenging the Status Quo

In May 2021, the ANZIBA Executive established a new award in honour of one of the doyens of Australian IB scholarship, Professor Lawrence Welch, who sadly passed away in September 2020. The award, known as the Lawrence Welch Prize – Challenging the Status Quo, is presented annually at the ANZIBA & AIB Oceania event and includes a cash prize of AUD $1,000.

The prize recognises the paper that best exemplifies innovative scholarship and challenges prevailing orthodoxies in IB. Reflecting Lawrence’s approach, the paper may be either purely theoretical in nature or based on empirical research using primary data. The winning paper is selected from among the papers accepted for presentation at the conference.
