Given the uncertainty concerning Covid, I just want to layout some of our thinking about the upcoming conference in Feb 2022.
We are still actively planning for a face-to-face conference in Wellington. However, it is possible that international travel may not have opened up by then. If that is the case, we are ready to revert to a fully on-line conference if needed.
But, regardless of which scenario eventuates, we strongly suggest that you take a ‘real option’ approach to the conference.
1. Submit your paper or panel proposal now. You can always withdraw it if things do not work out.
2. When we open up the registration in late November, please register. We have committed to refunding any fees (less A$10 to cover bank fees, etc) if the circumstances change.
3. Get your Covid vaccinations done, if you have not already done so. It is almost 100% certain that the NZ government will require all incoming visitors to be fully vaccinated.
4. For the moment, we recommend you hold off on any airline or hotel commitments. That is the one aspect that may not be as easy to reverse. On this aspect we pledge to keep all individuals who do register – up to date on this issue.
